Group captain Varun Singh, the sole survivor of the helicopter crash in which General CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others were killed, was transferred on Thursday from a Wellington hospital to a military hospital in Bengaluru for further treatment. He was taken by road to Sulur Air Base from Wellington in an ambulance and airlifted to Bangalore. Rescue personnel engaged in the operation shortly after the crash said Singh was rescued from the crash site along with Rawat.

Grand Chennai Police on Wednesday re-launched bicycle patrols in several areas to provide the public with easy and accessible access to the police and prevent crime. Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal instructed officers to conduct regular bicycle patrols in their jurisdictions in order to maintain good relations with the public.
