The Salvation Army sells geraniums

The Salvation Army of East Liverpool sells geraniums at $1 each. There is a choice of red, pink white, salmon and purple. Call the Salvation Army officer at 330-385-2086 for details. Orders must be placed by April 19.

Wine and Wildlife fundraiser

Volunteers from the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center will be hosting their wine and wildlife fundraiser to benefit the Wildlife Education Center from 6-9 p.m. on April 30. Attendees are invited to taste a selection of Ohio wines, a range of hot and cold appetizers. , and an assortment of desserts while exploring the rooms. Featured this year is the pavilion where many programs will take place, as well as the unveiling of a new logo and sign painted by supporter Diane Less. Coastin into Literacy Night in SL

Southern Local Elementary School will host a themed amusement park “Coastin’ into Literacy Night” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on April 26. It will include math and literacy activities for students in kindergarten through third grade. The school held a similar event in March, and SLES vice-principal Emily Brinker said it attracted several dozen students and their families. “Activities will include two literacy and two math,” she says. “The last literacy night, we had about 50 participants. Next year we would like to organize a few more.

Talent Showcase

The Cleda Marie Fitzjohn Memorial Music Trust will host its first ever “Talent Showcase” featuring young people of all ages from the Tri-State area at 2 p.m. April 24 at the East Liverpool Community and Learning Center. The instrumental and vocal talents of students in grades 4-12 will be on display.

The list of students due to participate includes Alana Adkins, Randi Allen, Jaylen Barbe, Layne Beagle, Adeline Bean, Destiny Beaver, Jake Boggs, Mason Boggs, Asa Brewer, Dezerea Carter, Lydia DiBiagio, Corbin Deremer, Savannah Dulaney, Giada Giambroni, Mars Gibson, Holly Hughes, Delani Ice, Emily Johnson, Talia Kosonovich, Aden Lockett, Braedyn Miller, Lily Miller, Anthony Moman, Sara Mouse, Ella Paras, Caleigh Reed, Tessa Snider, Tori Snider, Jamison Thompson, Madelyn Thompson, Mariah Thompson, Julian Rivera, Alexander Sine, Holly Vassar, Aaron White, Abigail Whitehead, Leah Williams, Shea Wimberly, Emily Wright and Kaitlyn Zehnder.

Admission will be free for the public. The East Liverpool Lions Club will handle concessions at the event.

The Cleda Marie Fitzjohn Trust was established in 2017 by her son, John D. Fitzjohn, to honor the life and memory of his mother who loved music and her whole life encouraged young children to pursue their interests and improve their musical skills of any type. . The Fitzjohn Trust was established to benefit music students of all ages in the following areas: Northern Hancock County, W.Va.; Beaver Local, East Liverpool and Wellsville; and Midland Borough, Pennsylvania.

Road works

The following projects are expected to affect Columbiana County roads in the coming weeks. All work is weather permitting.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday to resurface 4 miles of State Road 644 from Salineville to Summitville. The project also includes the resurfacing of National Route 39 through the village of Salineville. During the works, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Completion date is September 30.

Repair of the State Route 7 toboggan located about 2 miles south of Rogers. During the work, traffic is maintained by temporary traffic lights. Completion date is June 30.

Depot Road will be closed between Teegarden and Winona Roads for two weeks Monday through April 29 for a culvert replacement by the Columbiana County Office of Engineers. The road will be open to local residences only up to the construction site.
