WELLSBURG – Summer will heat up with Brooke Hills Playhouse’s third production, “Bingo, the winning musical”, which will take place at 8 p.m. on July 8, 9, 15 and 16 and at 2 p.m. on July 10 and 17.

Municipal Mutual Insurance Co. and Reasner Funeral Home are the season sponsors for the playhouse, which is located at Brooke Hills Park on State Route 27.

Excerpt from the book by Michael Heitzman and Ilene Reid with music and lyrics by Michael Heitzman, Ilene Reid and David Holcenberg, “Bingo” is about a group of hardcore bingo players who will stop at nothing to miss their weekly game.

Between phone calls, weird rituals, and fierce competition, love flowers and long-lost friends come together.

The play involves best friends Vern, Honey, and Patsy attending their local bingo’s annual founding celebration when a storm knocks out the power, reminding them of an eerie night 15 years ago that started the same way.

Toronto director/choreographer Cassandra Hackbart announced her cast: Kelsey Ohler of Follansbee, Kirsten Driscoll of Wintersville and Shannon Taylor of Wellsburg as three friends; Angelina Montesano of Wellsburg, Maura Reiff of Wintersville, Isabella Costantini of Weirton and Andrew Dillie of Wellsburg.

Hackbart said of the show, “It’s a hysterical musical that should be better known. It’s pure fun from start to finish and can be enjoyed by all ages. Audiences will be able to play bingo with the cast a few times throughout the show! Bingo cards and stamps will be provided. I come to rehearsals every day and giggle. The actors do a phenomenal job of bringing these great characters to life.

Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors 55 and older and students, and $10 for children 12 and under. Payment is made in cash or by check. Subscriptions are still available at the box office and grant the purchaser a free show. Adults are $50, seniors and students $42, and children $34. For more information, call (304) 737-3344.

Playhouse officials said they recently suffered a setback when its concession stand was broken into. Monetary donations for food and their ongoing efforts to rewire the performance hall are appreciated and can be sent to Brooke County Arts Council, PO Box 186, Wellsburg, WV 26070.
