Bridgetown Music Therapy Boosts Aging Minds With Online Program

After Covid-19 prompted the shift to an online format, Bridgetown Music Therapy continues to use music to touch the lives of seniors.

PORTLAND, OREGON, USA, May 6, 2022 / — Bridgetown Music Therapy – the organization dedicated to helping those with dementia, illness, disability or a lack of social connection – is proud to provide online access to its weekly video lessons and library of previous sessions that can boost memory, reduce stress and instill joy through the power of music.

At the start of the pandemic, Bridgetown’s team of therapists were no longer able to deliver sessions in homes and care facilities – even at a time when Covid-19 was amplifying loneliness and other limitations associated with aging.

However, with these challenges came opportunities. The move to an online service has unveiled a host of benefits, including cost savings for care homes and individuals, with membership down to just $99 per month, a quarter of the cost of in-person therapy. Additionally, online sessions are available nationwide and 24/7, depending on each member’s schedule.

“Our residents are loving the music therapy videos so far! A resident particularly connected to music and was so happy to have the chance to sing again. I got a little emotional watching her; it hasn’t turned on like this in months. Laura, Programs Supervisor at Canfield Place Assisted Living, recognizes one of the many lives Bridgetown Music Therapy has touched through her online program which incorporates song, movement and relaxation.
