The luxury life of SAUL ‘CANELO’ ALVAREZ knows no bounds.
The Mexican boxer, who fights Dmitry Bilov on Saturday, loves fast cars, has mega sponsorship deals and has dated some of the most attractive women in the world.
If that’s not enough, the 31-year-old’s predicted career earnings could see him join the billionaire boys club.
This would put him alongside sporting royalty including Floyd Mayweather Jr, Tiger Woods, basketball legend Michael Jordan and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Already jealous? You will be.
LIVE LIFE IN THE FAST LANE
You’ve seen what his old rival Mayweather drives, haven’t you?
Well, not wanting to be left behind when it comes to engines, Alvarez has an equally impressive garage full of supercars you would die for.
In 2019 he dropped £2.3million on a Bugatti Chiron – the world’s fastest car on the road.
Only 500 exist and Alvarez joins a select group of owners, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who can rest assured that their investment is being well spent, with the value of these cars increasing every year. And that’s not all.
You will find parked behind the gates of his Guadalajara mansion a Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series, Lamborghini Aventador, Mustang 500 Eleanor, Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, Ferrari Testarossa, AMG C64 biTurbo, Rolls Royce Ghost, Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren P1, Porsche 911 GT3 and a Lamborghini Gallardo (Renazzo Vorsteiner edition).
More recently, Canelo posed with a red LaFerrai, which costs around £2million. Total value of this whole lot? Around £10 million.
GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS
Being a successful sports star is a big plus, especially when it comes to attracting the opposite sex.
And Alvarez has dated some of the most beautiful women in the world – from a former Miss Universe to an actress who was friends with a drug lord to the current flame of Colombian footballer James Rodriguez.
In 2012, he tasted and dined with TV star Kate del Castillo, 18 years his senior.
Referring to their sex life during a chat show interview, she revealed, “There were strong rounds and yes, there were knockouts sometimes.”
Continuing to speak in boxing metaphors, she added, “He was the first to hit the canvas and ask for his corner to throw in the towel.” Incredibly, del Castillo’s name would return in 2015 as a middleman between former Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman and Sean Penn, four years after his split from Alvarez.
She pitched “El Chapo” to the Hollywood star after the drug lord escaped from a maximum-security prison in Mexico, and a massive TV interview followed.
Before del Castillo, there was Marisol Gonzalez, who entered the Miss Universe 2003 beauty pageant.
So loved, they got engaged after a whirlwind nine-month romance in 2010.
However, their love did not last and they called off their engagement a year later.
In 2017, Alvarez courted Venezuelan stunner Shannon de Lima, a runner-up in the 2005 “Miss Earth Venezuela Pageant” after she divorced Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Then he had an on/off relationship with Fernanda Gomez, and they welcomed a daughter called Maria Fernanda in 2017.
They got married in 2021 and Canelo says he’s a ‘different man’ since he got married.
Currently living in Guadalajara, where he was born, Alvarez has always valued his privacy – but recently let cameras in for a tour of his digs.
The stunning property offers stunning scenery, space for all its supercars and wall racks for its many belts.
His former home in Del Mar, San Diego, California was nestled in a gated community.
It wasn’t until he went on sale in 2015 that we got a window into his rich life.
The 11,970 square foot mansion was sold for around £6million and featured six bedrooms, high ceilings, raised wooden beams above the living room, a huge library and ocean views.
To entertain guests and those around him, he also had a games room with a built-in bar.
THE APPLE OF HIS EYES
Despite his reputation as a ladies’ man and someone who likes to live the high life, family is important to the ginger fighter.
His eldest daughter Emily Cinnamon Alvarez, 16, is the most important person in the world to him.
That’s why, before facing Gennady Golovkin in their 2018 rematch, he got her image tattooed on his arm, just so she could be in the ring with him. But the mystery shrouds the mother of the young girls.
The Mexican tabloid Clase claimed that Emily was born out of a high school relationship Alvarez had with a young woman named Karen Beltran when she was 17.
There are no public photos of Beltran, who managed to stay away from the media. Clase also claimed the couple shared their daughter.
SPONSORS KEEP COMING
Alvarez is one of the highest paid athletes in the world.
Although he didn’t have the outrageous personality of his contemporary Mayweather Jr, or the knockout factor of Muhammad Ali, DAZN thought he was a worthwhile investment.
They offered him around $365 million for 11 fights to be broadcast exclusively by them, but he recently backed out of the deal and is suing them. Despite his rather bizarre fashion choices, once he flew in a private jet in a panda costume, he’s also a poster boy for advertisers.
Alongside basketball genius Steph Curry, Alvarez runs campaigns for sportswear giant Under Armour, peddling their boxing range.
Add to that deals with cognac house Hennessy, beer company Tecate and Everlast, it’s clear Alvarez is rolling in.
And according to experts, it won’t be long before the orthodox brawler goes from millionaire to billionaire. Still not jealous?
