Hammond’s Leonardo du Plooy is among more than 1,300 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements in the fall 2021 semester.
Officials at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, explained that the Dean’s List is a recognition given to cadets and students who are enrolled for 12 hours or more per semester and whose cumulative grade point average is 3.20. or higher, with no grade of I (incomplete) and no grade lower than C for one-semester work.
Cadets who are named to the Dean’s List receive a medal, which is worn on their uniform for the semester following their academic achievement. Non-cadet students on the Dean’s List receive a certificate.
Five hundred and ninety-eight students have been named to the Fall 2021 President’s List at Northwestern State University at Natchitoches. The students on the list have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 4.0.
The people named to the Tangipahoa parish presidential roll are: Hannah Davis, Grant Gros, both of Ponchatoula; and Pat Taylor and Ileysha Burton, both of Roseland.
Northwestern State University announces the names of 739 students who have been named to the Honor List for the Spring 2021 semester. Students on the Honor List must be enrolled full-time at Northwestern and have a cumulative grade point average of between 3.0 and 3.49.

Northwestern State University announces the names of 841 students named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2021 semester.
Students on the Dean’s List achieved a cumulative grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99. Students from the Tangipahoa Parish area who have been named to the Dean’s List are Dominique Sims from Amite and Ashlynn Picou from Maurepas.
Southern New Hampshire

Full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3,700 and above are named to the President’s list.
Latisha Warner of Hammond and Nathan Weathersby of Ponchatoula made Southern New Hampshire University’s Dean’s List by having a minimum GPA of 3.500 to 3.699.
University of Alabama
Lisa Brady of Folsom received the following degree from the University of Alabama: Doctor of Philosophy. UA awarded 2,362 degrees during its fall opening ceremonies on December 10-11, 2021.
Community music school
Julianne Jiles of Madisonville, a violin student at Southeastern Louisiana University Community Music School, won the Philharmonia division of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra concerto competition held Jan. 9 in New Orleans. She and winners from other divisions will perform as a soloist with GNOYO this spring.
Jiles is a sixth-grade student at Tchefuncte Middle School and is part of the academically talented and talented music and art programs in the St. Tammany Parish School System. She started playing the violin in first grade and in 2021 was among the winners of the CMS Southeast Concerto Competition. She also performed as a soloist with the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra at the Shining Stars concert in November.
The Community Music School’s Spring 2022 semester begins the week of January 24. The 13-week spring semester will offer one-on-one instruction in a variety of instruments and voices to students of all ages at CMS’s three Southeast campuses in Hammond, the Southeastern Livingston Center in Walker, and Northshore Technical Community College in Lacombe.
