Jack Harlow asked for Dua Lipa’s approval before naming a song after her.
The 24-year-old rap star sat down with the London-born singer before releasing his new track, which is called ‘Dua Lipa’.
He said: “I wanted to get her blessing, so I FaceTimed her and played it for her because I didn’t want her to be blindsided by it or feel scared or anything.
“If she had said, ‘Yo, I hate this. I don’t want it to come out, “it wouldn’t have come out.”
Dua, 26, thinks the song is “right” – but she was also “flipped” by the conversation.
Jack said on ‘The Breakfast Club’: “She was like, ‘Oh, I mean, that’s not my song. I guess that’s okay.’ She was kinda thrown around and she just kinda let down.”
The duo have been talking more and more over the past few weeks, and Jack hopes Dua will eventually “enjoy” the record.
He shared, “We’re fine. We’ll see how the record does. I think when the song comes out, she’ll like it even more.”
Meanwhile, Jack recently predicted that the world “is going to light up [him] soon”.
The rap star has enjoyed impressive success since releasing his debut album in 2020, but Jack also knows there’s another side to fame.
He said, “The world will soon turn against me.”
Jack is aware that criticism will soon come to him.
He said: “There will come a time when they will turn on me. I don’t know what it’s going to be, I don’t know why. I’m not trying to manifest it either. But I just necessarily say it’s is what is happening.
“I see sparks of it like any great artist sees. But all the people who defend me are going to turn against me. And now I have a good feeling they’re going to turn around.”
