If the Queensland weather doesn’t scream at you in a high pitched screech, we don’t know what will. Our climate, coupled with the incredible hospitality scene here in our city, means these outdoor hotspots of good times and delicious libations are the perfect place to hang out – any time of the year! It’s all about having a drink in the sun and taking selfies with scenic backgrounds for Instagram bragging purposes.

So, in honor of top-tier bars, here are 11 top-tier rooftop bars you should prioritize visiting this weekend — and next weekend, and the weekend after…

The Exhibitionist Bar
When HOT opened its brand new state of the art Gallery built last year (the biggest outside of a capital city, by the way), we all knew the art scene was about to go up a level or two. What we didn’t realize was that a sublimely positioned rooftop bar was also part of the deal. The very talented Tom Angel runs a creative bar and cocktail list which is a great place for a sunset — and the perfect place to get away from the city dwellers!

Vice Tropic
Glitzy, glamorous and generally a wonderful time all around, Vice Tropic was the rooftop bar Noby Beach dreamed of, and it came to fruition in 2021. The perfect spot for a weekend catch-up, a cheeky midweek cocktail, or an epic bottomless brunch every Sunday. Do yourself a favor: find yourself here sipping a cocktail while drinking in the beautiful countryside see.

The roof of the island
Find it Golden Coast the largest and much-loved outdoor rooftop bar perched atop the island of Surfer’s Paradise. The roof of the island is part club, part bar, part live music place, and all parties are a fun time, no matter the day of the week. Head there for the epic Grazy Days weekend lunch or just to feel like you’re on island time.

Nineteen to the star
The classiest of the bunch is undoubtedly Nineteen to the star, with velor cabin-style seating, an infinity pool, and ocean views for days. Found at the top of the The Gold Coast Star The darling, Nineteen is the perfect place to people watch, dress up and sip fancy drinks while dancing the night away. Oh and be sure to take a photo on the trail that stretches into the pool!

Frida Sol
The palm beach Mexican restaurant doubles as a rooftop bar with ocean views and plenty of salty ocean breezes. The dishes are fresh and tasty, and there are plenty of margarita on the list to soothe that sweltering summer humidity we are currently experiencing. Go in Frida Sol.

Mr. PP’s Deli & Rooftop Bar
A game changer in from Southport the food and drink scene was Mr. PP, a rooftop deli and bar with city views and lots of good vibes in the century-old postal building. There is a generous menu full of pizza, tapas and charcuterie boards and that’s why we love rooftop bars. Plus cocktails and local drinks, of which there is plenty to Mr. PP. live music on Sundays too.

Everyone’s favorite multi-restaurant establishment, Collective also features a rooftop bar with epic cocktails for your enjoyment. You can also order dishes from one of the five menus offered and watch the sunset on the ocean while you’re there. We HIGHLY recommend.

Justin Lane
A much-loved favorite and the Gold Coast’s first official rooftop bar, Justin Lane has continued to be one of the most popular rooftops since opening in 2011. The space is intimate with cabin-style seating overlooking Burleigh and many cocktails to tickle your fancy. Down is all delicious pizza you might need, so stock up, then head upstairs to mingle with the gang.

Last night on earth
Pretty sure if this was, in fact, your last night on Earth, you’d want to spend it at a rooftop bar with bulk cocktails ready to go. which may not be the purpose of from Southport Last Night on Earth but a good intro nonetheless. Last Night on Earth is the work of a local legend Arran Wollams and his crew; it’s an underworld-themed rooftop bar in the heart of Southport offering good times galore. It’s a dive bar, but not as you know it. Check it out.

Moxy Rooftop Bar
This rooftop bar located in the south Coolangatta has beautiful glimpses of the ocean, lots of live music, and an impressive cocktail menu that will keep you coming back for more. Although they don’t do meals, you can order from the Mexican joint downstairs, and we’re pretty sure there’s nothing that goes better than loose cocktails and tacos. Always bustling and worth a visit Coast.

Aviary rooftop bar
Perched atop Mantra on Sharks, Aviary Rooftop Bar’s the views are as amazing as their extensive drink list. With a 180 degree view of the Surfer’s Paradise the horizon and the ocean, it is the ideal place for a after work drink or Sunday arvo session with the crew. Ohh and don’t even get us started on their authentic Italian pizzaand tapas… if you know, you know.
