Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based psychologist has been sentenced to 14 days in jail and fined for harassing female clients and making sexual advances to them online.
Dr. BP Nagesh, a psychologist by profession, visited several well-known schools and colleges in the city as a visiting teacher and conducted counseling sessions.
After the session, he shared his contact details with the students under the guise of sending motivational quotes.
However, when female students contacted him, he harassed them by making sexual advances to them online and sharing graphic images attempting to coerce them into a sex chat.
Nagesh of Eepur, Guntur district resided in an inn in Madhapur.
The incident came to light after students were brave enough to contact SHE teams in Hyderabad following outreach programs at universities.
“Schools and colleges need to be very careful while inviting visiting professors from outside. After speaking to the people concerned, assessing their behavior and informing them of the rules to follow. Always keep an eye on the progress of the class. The accused was taken into custody and brought before the Nampally court following the investigation. After careful consideration of the details of the case, the third special judge sentenced the accused to sixteen days’ imprisonment and a fine.
