The role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in promoting Azerbaijani music to the world was applauded at an event held at the Central Science Library.
A conference on âHeydar Aliyev and musical cultureâ, scheduled for the National Music Day, was solemnly opened at the library.
Public and cultural figures, including employees of research institutes, representatives of the Baku Academy of Music attended the event.
In his speech, the Director General of the National Academy of Sciences, Mammad Aliyev, praised the work of national leader Heydar Aliyev in promoting Azerbaijani music to the world. He stressed that Heydar Aliyev made a significant contribution to national music.
In 1995, the late President Heydar Aliyev decreed September 18 as National Music Day to mark the 110th birthday of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibayli.
Many prominent composers Gara Garayev, Fikrat Amirov, Niyazi and Rashid Behbudov have received the honorary title of “Hero of Socialist Labor”.
Mammad Aliyev noted that the library contains valuable publications that highlight all aspects of the national leader’s activities, including his contribution to culture and the arts.
Speaking at the event, a representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Zaur Aliyev, said that under the leadership of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, UNESCO and the Goodwill Ambassador of the ‘ICESCO, Mehriban Aliyeva, the foundation immortalizes the name of the great leader through noble and benevolent acts and implements various projects in all fields.
He pointed out that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation had initiated the restoration of cultural monuments in Shusha and other territories freed from Armenian occupation. In addition, he successfully organized the Kharibulbul music festival in Shusha.
Restored after 29 years, the festival has become a celebration of national unity, pride, victory and dignity.
Prof. Ulviya Imanova, Head of Department of Music History at Baku Academy of Music, spoke about Heydar Aliyev’s relentless attention to Azerbaijani culture.
Then the popular artist Gulnaz Ismayilova delighted the audience with the musical piece “My Country” by Asaf Zeynalli, “I Can’t Stand It Again” by Elza Ibrahimova, the song “Without You” by Uzeyir Hajibayli and many other compositions.
She was accompanied by the winner of the Republican and international competitions, the talented pianist Maryam Yusifova, whose virtuosity left no one indifferent.
The event was followed by an exhibition dedicated to the work of the great leader Heydar Aliyev for the development of national music.
The exhibition also highlighted the work of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva in promoting Azerbaijani music.
A number of exhibitions were presented as part of the event, including the music albums “Karabakh Singers”, “International Mugham Festival: Space of Mugham”, as well as the dedicated book “All the Pearls of Our Culture”. to the activities of the Heydar Aliyev President Mehriban Aliyeva Foundation in the cultural field.
