Three to join the Hall of Fame at Homecoming

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Former All-American Yellow Jacket Kelsey (Jones) Carter, Kari (Flunker) Hoffman and Jason Scott will be inducted into the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.

They will be recognized during the alumni honorary luncheon at the Stevens Student Center. Viewers can LOOK the rewards program starting at 12:30 p.m. EDT.

KELSEY (JONES) CARTER – Women’s Volleyball

Carter was the driving force behind the success of Lady Jacket volleyball during his 2002-2005 career and remains the program’s all-time leader in assists with 6,662.

The Cedarville High School product guided CU to a 148-47 record, the 2005 NCCAA Championship, two NAIA Region IX titles and two American Mideast Conference trophies.

Carter was named NCCAA National Player of the Year in 2004, NCCAA National Tournament MVP in 2005, NAIA Region IX Player of the Year in 2005, CMA Player of the Year in 2005 and was selected to the NAIA All-America Second Team in 2005.

Kelsey and her husband, JP, reside in Summerville, SC with their two daughters.

She works at the Allegro Charter School of Music and teaches physical and health education from grades 6 to 12. In addition, she is a volunteer assistant coach of varsity volleyball at the Northwood Academy.

KARI (FLUNKER) HOFFMAN – Women’s Basketball

Kari Flunker HoffmanHoffman was a key figure during his basketball career from 2001 to 2005, elevating Lady Jacket basketball to a perennial powerhouse of the NAIA Division II.

During that span, Cedarville set an incredible 124-18 record while winning three AMC Championships and winning a pair of NAIA Division II National Finalists.

Hoffman, a native of Florence, Wis., Is the program’s second all-time scorer (2,275) and is the all-time leader in three runs scored (338), three-point percentage (0.458) and assists (644).

She was a three-time member of the NAIA Division II All-American team and was named twice to the NAIA National Tournament Team.

Hoffman was named NCCAA National Player of the Year in 2005, was twice NCCAA Midwestern Player of the Year and twice AMC Player of the Year.

She was the head coach of the CU women’s basketball program from 2016-21, accumulating a 106-38 record, two G-MAC regular season titles and a trip to the NCAA Division II tournament. She was twice G-MAC Coach of the Year.

Kari and her husband, Jimmy, reside in Springfield, Ohio with their three children. She is currently the head coach of women’s basketball at Wright State University.

JASON SCOTT (Men’s Athletics)

Jason scottJason Scott became the most decorated pole vaulter in Cedarville track and field history after his career from 2004 to 2007.

A resident of Clayton, Ohio, he was a three-time National Champion of the NAIA, winning the outdoor title in 2004 and indoor crowns in 2006 and 2007.

Scott has been NAIA Indoor All-American four times and Outdoor All-American twice.

He led the Yellow Jackets to the 2006 and 2007 NCCAA Indoor Championships. He was the 2006 NCCAA National Top Outdoor Artist in the competition.

Jason and his wife, Bethany, reside in Black Mountain, NC with their two sons. He is currently an assistant cross-country / track and field coach at the Collège de Montreat.
