The former meteorologist tried her luck on E4’s Celebs Go Dating and had varying degrees of success in the love world while trying her hand at dating apps.
Ulrika Johnsson has hinted that she finds it difficult to get dates because people just want to meet up for sex and nothing else.
The 54-year-old TV legend has thrust himself back into the dating circle – and into the limelight – by signing up for E4’s crazy dating show, Celebs Go Dating.
But while the cameras caught her on painfully awkward dates, she explained that dating show pundits Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson was no more successful.
Ulrika – who is thrice divorced, has four children and has had her private life dragged into the media spotlight thanks to her high-profile affair with Sven-Göran Eriksson – opened up about her dating experience in her 50s.
Opening up about online dating in particular, she told Heat magazine: “People want to meet to have sex, that’s one thing. But maybe I don’t want that.
Ulrika thinks her lack of experience might make her search for love more difficult.
She said: “Until less than a year ago, I had never been on a date – ever. I live in the afterlife backchat. I walk the dogs, I don’t go out. But I recently tried online dating.
“I was so green when I started – there are so many catfish, and my sister kept telling me, ‘That’s a fake profile! Now I am so much wiser.
Ulrika’s conversation with Heat rings in with a recent interview she gave to The Sun where she also opened up about love and featured on Celebs Go Dating.
In a slightly more raunchy confession, she said, “What’s a good date? One that ends in sex? That’s why people hook up. Let’s not pretend.”
But back to her life, Ulrika said she hoped to make up for lost time in her 50s after spending her time with her family and her career in her 20s and 30s.
She said: “Everyone was having fun in their 20s and 30s. It wasn’t.
“I had a career. I got married at 23. I had my first child at 27. For me, life was all about family and career.
“I do all the fun s*** now. For me, I guess that’s how life is meant to be. That’s how it went.”
And she added, “I’ll keep making dating apps. I’ll be brutally honest. If you can’t take it, that’s it.”
Ulrika married her first husband, John Turnbull, in 1990 at the age of 23 and welcomed her first child at 27.
She divorced John in 1995 and dated footballer Stan Collymore, then later had a romance with German hotel manager Marcus Kempen – with whom she shares Bo.
She embarked on a high-profile affair with former England soccer manager and fellow Swede, Sven-Goran Eriksson in 2002 and the same year fell in love with a contestant named Lance Gerrard-Wright from the TV show. dating Mr Right – whom she married in 2003, divorced in 2006 and shares daughter Martha.
She then married American advertising executive Brian Monet in 2008 but divorced in 2019 and together they share son Malcolm.
