FRIENDS OF THE COUNTRY

The Rancho Santa Fe Country Friends, a 68-year-old nonprofit, announced the co-chairs of Art of Fashion, its annual fashion show and luncheon scheduled for Sept. 15 at the historic Rancho Santa Fe Inn. Co-chairs Sandy Nolan, Keilene Hayward and Melissa Wilkins were chosen for their achievements and their commitment to The Country Friends. Each year, the TCF also selects honorary presidents, recognized for their dedication to the organization. Last year, the Country Friends provided $100,000 in emergency funding to 10 nonprofit organizations.

LEADING NOTE HONORED

Camille Hastings, with Leading Note Studios in Encinitas and San Marcos, received the 2021 National School of Music of the Year award on March 22. Academy Achievement Systems.

FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Carlsbad Educational Foundation announces that eligible seniors in the Class of 2022 can receive one of nine generous scholarships totaling $45,000. The highest price is $15,000. One-third of the scholarships will be allocated specifically to applicants based on need. All applications must be received by April 30. THE LIBRARY IS LOOKING FOR AN ADMINISTRATOR

The Oceanside Public Library Board is seeking an engaged, community-oriented Board Member to fill a vacant position for a three-year term. Library trustees are appointed by the mayor, with the consent of the city council, based on applications submitted to the city clerk. TING CONCLUDE

Ting City Manager Tim Barnes and Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jamie Johnson announced that Ting’s fiber optic network is now complete on Solana Beach, meaning residents and Community businesses can now access the power and opportunity of fiber. Construction of Solana Beach’s fiber began in December 2019 and was led by Ting’s partner, Netly. Ting’s citywide network runs through more than 7,000 usable addresses.

SMART COOKIES

• Abilene Christian University announced the selection of Andrew Kramer of San Marcos to participate in its Summer Scholars, a study abroad opportunity for high school seniors and seniors.

• Declan Bretz, a student at Emerson College in Carmel Valley, has earned a spot on the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Men’s Varsity Basketball Team for 2021-22. Bretz specializes in sports communication.

BEST TEACHER

Santa Fe Christian Schools teacher John Salyer has been shortlisted for the KYXY 96.5 Teacher Tribute Awards competition, which honors local educators and coaches who make a difference in the community. Salyer, a 35-year-old educator and department head at SFC, specializes in broadcast television and media creation.

NEW CYCLING STUDIO

Grind House Cycle moved into the front half of the building at 449 S. Coast Highway, effective March 1, and opened a new cycling studio.

San Diego’s newest PACE location celebrated its grand opening on March 19 at 1840 West Drive, Vista. San Diego PACE, a division of San Ysidro Health, Inc., is a specialty health plan that provides high-quality, compassionate care to adults ages 55 and older.
